Call for Submissions


WE INVITE THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF SUBMISSIONS

Referenced paper, due 24 November 2019
Practice paper, due Sunday 1 March 2020 - EXTENSION
Postgraduate Student paper, due 24 November 2019
Poster, due 17 February 2020
Workshops, due 24 November 2019

Please Note: Acceptance of the first submissions will be notified by 5.00pm Mondayday 16 December 2019 at the latest. Abstracts of all accepted submissions will be published in the conference proceedings.

Please read the following thoroughly before submitting your paper. Submissions should follow the guidelines in the templates provided on the tabs below. When completed use the submission tabs at the bottom of each section to submit your paper.


Please Note: Upon acceptance of your submission, at least one named author/presenter must register as a delegate for the conference.

 

 

THE SUBMISSION TYPES ARE...

 

REFERENCED PAPER - Due 24 November 2019

(Presentation length: 20min session: 15 min present max; 5 min discussion/questions) A “referenced paper “ can be research/evidence based, theoretically based, or a significant literature review related to any of the conference sub themes (peer reviewed as part of the selection process) 


This submission type requires you to complete a number of sections by using the Referenced Paper Submission button below. The required sections are: Title, Abstract, Introduction, The problem being addressed, The study design/Approach, Findings, Discussion and Conclusion. A Referenced Paper is a total of 2,500 words including a 250 word abstract.

Once your initial submission has been accepted, please submit the final version by Friday 13th March 2020 by emailing it to the event manager.

After the conference, (at which feedback can enhance and develop your thinking about your paper) please consider extending it (between 3000 to 6000 words) for inclusion in a peer review process for the Journal of Open, Flexible and Distance Learning by 29 May 2020. This journal is available online and is open access.

NB: All papers submitted to the Referenced Paper category will be entered for the Best Referenced Paper Award Certificate, presented at the 2020 conference. This award is for a paper that represents significant and innovative work in research, development, or applications related to any of the main conference sub themes.


PRACTICE PAPER (not peer reviewed) - Due 1 March 2020 - EXTENSION

(20min session: 15 min present max; 5 min discussion time) A practice paper centres on an application in an educational setting. This might be research focused, a great idea, or an innovation. Regardless, there will be some evidential information to draw on to demonstrate its impact. 

This submission type requires you to complete a number of sections by using the Practice Paper Submission Button below. The required sections are: Title, Outline, Introduction, The practice under scrutiny, Discussion and Conclusion. A Practice Paper is a total of 1,500 words including a 250 word outline.

You have the option of expanding your paper (between 3000 to 6000 words) for submission to the FLANZ journal, Journal of Open, Flexible and Distance Learning. This extended paper will undergo the usual review process.
 



POSTGRADUATE PEER REVIEWED STUDENT PAPER (for postgraduate students only) - Due 24 November 2019

(20min session: 15 min presention max; 5 min discussion/question) To qualify for a Postgraduate paper submission, you must be an enrolled student (either part-time or full-time) at the time of submission. You will be asked to cite your student ID number when you register for the conference for confirmation of your student status.

This submission type requires you complete a number of sections by using the Postgraduate Student Paper Submission button below. The required sections are: Title, Abstract, Introduction, The problem being addressed, Study design/Approach, Findings, Discussion and Conclusion. A Postgraduate Paper is a total of 2,000 words including a 250 word abstract.

Once your initial submission has been accepted, please submit the final version by Friday 13th March 2020 using the online paper procedure.


After the conference, (at which feedback can enhance and develop your thinking about your paper) please consider extending it (between 3000 to 6000 words) for inclusion in a peer-review process for the Journal of Open, Flexible and Distance Learning by 29th May 2020. This journal is available online and is open access. 


WORKSHOPS - Due 24 November 2019


(Presentation length: 40 mins) A workshop is a ‘hands-on’ session or ‘a how-to’. The conference has space for a small number of active workshops.

 

 


POSTERS - Due 17 February 2020


All posters will be displayed in a prominent place, and a dedicated time for poster presenters to discuss their work is included in the programme.

This submission type allows you to present research/practice in visual form.

Please provide a 250 word abstract for your poster by Sunday 24th November. A digital PDF of your poster will be required for presentation nearer the time of the conference. You will need to bring your completed poster with you to the Conference for display at the time and location specified in the Programme. Your final poster needs to follow the following guidelines:

Sizes: AO portrait
Type: Minimum of 16 point font size for body text
Include images where possible to illustrate key ideas. For technologically enhanced poster presentations, you will need to bring your own display device.
A PDF will be required nearer the time of the conference for digital display.
